2016 – The first West Kirby Live took place in 9 venues around West Kirby and raised money for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity. The event started the tradition of taking place on the first Saturday of June.
2017 – This year brought the introduction of our first outdoor stage in front of the Concourse in the centre of West Kirby plus another 8 indoor venues around the town, the growth of the event meant raising even more vital funds for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, supporting the construction of their new hospital.
2018 – WKL 2018 brought the festival to Coronation Gardens and Tanskey’s for the first time with an outdoor stage here and another at the Concourse. 9 indoor venues helped the festival host over 100 acts!
2019 – WKL 2019 saw further development of the Coronation Gardens setup as we moved a second stage into the area and hosted many performances by youth performing arts groups followed by a run of fantastic live music. With an incredible 11 indoors venues this made 2019 the biggest event yet! This final year raising funds for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity brought the total raised over the four summer events so far to over £30 000!
2020 – During Lockdown in 2020 West Kirby Live helped present an all day, online fundraiser supporting local care home staff working during the Covid Pandemic. Featuring live and specially recorded performances by many previous WKL artists and by members of The Coral!
2022 – A new format was brought in for West Kirby Live 2022, a winter weekend event raising funds and bringing in vital donations of essential items for Wirral Foodbank. Donations for this ‘Cost of Giving’ festival weekend totalled well over £4000 at a time when the cost of living was hitting so many. Over 400kg of donations were given in at venues and over £3800 in cash. 8 indoor venues hosted some fantastic acts over a very special weekend.
2025 – West Kirby Live 2025 returns to the original summer format, to be held on Saturday 7th June! This year’s event will raise money for Maggies Cancer Centre based at Clatterbridge. Join us for a fantastic day of live music and fun!
